Florida – Volunteering

Maybe you don’t have the extra cash to donate or maybe you just prefer volunteering overall but either way, volunteering is a great benefit to your heath, physically and mentally. it can also benefit your kids if you involve them in volunteering and show them that giving is more rewarding than receiving. Volunteering helps a lot of people and not only you but other people in your community too, which betters the community over all and saves on resources.

While the idea sounds wonderful, sometimes getting started isn’t as easy as you would think if you’re not a regular volunteer worker and sometimes it’s hard to know where to look. I can understand the frustrations and I certainly understand the temptation of throwing in the towel. If you remain patient and continue your search, you more than likely will find your results. In the meantime, I will provide you with a few search results I came up with.

This opportunity is to help the state park. You’ll get to choose between helping rangers remove exotic plants to doing tours, to greeting visitors to other opportunities with this option. Whether you’re with a group or not, this is a good opportunity to get involved with. You can even involve your kids with the process.

Central Florida Zoo

This is an opportunity in Sanford, Fl and it’s for the central Florida zoo. There are quite a few volunteer opportunities for you here and you can involve your teenagers with this opportunity. This is great for animal lovers and helps your children feel good about the process too.

Florida Hospital: Volunteering

This is a good opportunity for those who are interested in medical opportunities. This is a volunteering option at the hospital and the choices range from the gift shop to information desk. Definitely give this option some thought.

Volunteer: Conservancy of Southwest Florida
website: http://www.conservancy.org/support-us/volunteer
This option is good for nature lovers, you can involve teens 16 and older, and it’s in Naples, Fl. There are quite a few options for you to choose from and a couple your teenagers can choose from too.

Now I will confess this list isn’t the biggest list around but it gives you a taste of a few options of what is available in Florida. There are many more options and I think it’s best to do your own searches in your own areas to find what fits your interest. If the internet isn’t your preferred method, then ask around your work, the schools, and around the community. Either way, you’re sure to find something that will work for you.
